Study Evaluation

What the Study Will Evaluate

As the Tyler area continues to grow, travel demand in east and southeast Tyler is increasing. The study is needed to:

  • Evaluate how the three existing Toll 49 alternatives influence local roadway network needs, and determine how E. Grande Boulevard and Old Omen Road should be extended to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
  • Create better connectivity between neighborhoods, schools, commercial areas, and regional corridors.
  • Support emergency response access and long‑term mobility in the area.

By evaluating multiple roadway alternatives together, the study seeks to identify the combination of improvements that best serve the community, minimize impacts, and prepare the transportation network for future growth.

What the Study Will Not Evaluate

This study will not propose any new alignments for Toll 49. The Toll 49 alternatives being referenced are existing options already identified in the Toll 49 Segment 6 Public Scoping meeting. The purpose of this study is to understand how E. Grande Boulevard and Old Omen Road should connect to these alternatives, not to change the path of Toll 49.
